Johnstown Ohio
Johnstown, a village with a population estimated at 4,000, is part of a 4,000-acre tract of land deeded to Revolutionary War soldier John Brown in 1800 by President John Adams for his military service. Brown sold the property in 1810 to Dr. Oliver Bigelow, who laid out the village and donated the streets and alleys of Johnstown, as well as the town square.
The square is home to the new clock tower and the old Johnstown Town Hall. The town hall contains an historic opera house constructed by Elizah Barton in 1884 and the Historical Society Museum.
Major employers include Tech International, Johnstown-Monroe School District, Kroger, Atria Building Products Inc. and Atrium and Mohawk Carpets.
Major attractions include: Opera House on the town square; old Cornell School, the village’s original one-room schoolhouse at 501 S. Main St.; the library at 320 N. Main St.; and the Johnstown Mastodon, found in 1926 by James W. Bailey and on display in the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. The village also is at the northern end of the 14-mile T.J. Evans Bike Path, which begins in Newark.

Alexandria Ohio
Alexandria, a village of about 500 residents in western Licking County, sits along Ohio 37, just north of Ohio 161, between Granville and Johnstown
The village is home to Northridge Primary School, part of the Northridge Local School District, and has five churches, a library, a dentist’s office, a museum, a hair salon and several locally owned restaurants.
Alexandria Family Health, associated with Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, opened in 2007 in the downtown.
It has a police department and is served by St. Albans Township Fire Department. A new wastewater treatment plant opened in 2007. The village gets its water from Granville.
During the third week of July, the village has its annual Fun Days Celebration. The street festival features amusement rides, food and craft vendors.
