Hebron, Ohio

Hebron, located in south-central Licking County, is home to about 2,150 residents

The village’s motto, “Historic Crossroads of Ohio,” speaks to its location at the intersection of U.S. 40, formerly known as National Road, and the old Ohio-Erie Canal. Ohio 79 runs through the village, and Interstate 70 lies just to the south.

Hebron is the site of the 600-acre Newark Industrial Park, where at least 16 manufacturers are located, including Dow Chemical Corp., Momentive Performance Materials and THK Manufacturing. Bayer MaterialScience opened a $10 million addition in 2007, and Hendrickson Auxiliary Axle Systems completed a $1.5 million expansion project in 2008.

Harry & David broke ground in 2007 on a $16 million expansion, which was put on hold in 2008.

Hebron provides its own police, fire,
water and wastewater services to residents. The village invested $20 million for expansions of its water and wastewater facilities in 2006 and 2007.

The Hebron Municipal Complex, 934 W. Main St., serves as the village offices and is home to the Hebron Public Library, a branch of the Newark Public Library System.

The 90-acre Evans Athletic Complex is home to several baseball, softball, football and soccer fields as well as playground equipment and a walking trail. The village is in the Lakewood Local School District.

Arrowhead Plaza, near Kroger, opened in 2004 and
houses restaurants and shops, including Yummy Yummy, Subway, Hebron Nails, Edward Jones financial services and Sunny Buns tanning salon.

 Buckeye lake, Ohio

Buckeye Lake is a community of about 3,000 residents in southern Licking County, along the north edge of Buckeye Lake State Park, the first state park in Ohio.

The 3,300-acre lake offers a variety of water-related recreational opportunities for boating and fishing enthusiasts. In the winter, many use the lake to ice-fish, ice-boat and snowmobile.

The lake, known by Indians in the mid-1700s as “Big Swamp” or “Big
Pond,” was formed in the Glacial Period and gained importance with the building of the Ohio Canal, when the lake increased to more than 7 miles in width and 1 mile in length.

Buckeye Lake sits near Interstate 70, with Ohio 79 and Ohio 360 running through the village. Students in the area attend Lakewood Local School District.

• Mayor: Frank Foster

• Village council: Meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month at Buckeye Lake Administrative Offices, 5192 Walnut Road SE.
